The landscape of product development has evolved over the years significantly, reflecting changes in technology, market dynamics and organisational structures. Pre 2000’s the role of a Product Manager had a primary focus on product development and building enhancing features. Post 2000’s we saw the adoption of agile methodologies the role of Product Owner gained more momentum within the market, and before we knew it we had all adopted the agile language!


To be a successful Product Manager within this market, you need a diverse range of tools in your toolbox, some of these include knowing your customer audience, the capacity to understand data analytics, think cross-functionally across your business, have a UX-Centric approach, have a product growth mindset to drive customer acquisition, conversion and retention, commercially understand what will work for both the customer and the business and finally have your eyes open to continuous learnings in this forever changing environment!
